Sunday,
August 22:
Lucky
Duck Pluck.
3
to 6 pm at the Brookings Aquatic Center.
Want to help local
families AND have a chance at $1000? Check out this event!
During the 2010 Lucky Duck Pluck, rubber ducks, each with a number, will
be released into the swimming pool. As ducks are 'plucked,' the ticket
holder with the matching number wins a prize! Prizes include the $1000
grand prize and many additional prizes.
The day's events includes live music by Sonic Screwdriver and a mini
duck-pluck for the kids. There isn't
an admission fee for the event.
Tickets are $10 for one
duck, $50 for a "six-quack", and $200 for a flock of 25. Tickets may be
purchased at the ReStore, all Brookings banks, Wildfire Cheer members or
the Habitat office. Proceeds will help build a Habitat home in
Brookings.
In case of thunderstorms, an alternate location will be announced. Need
not be present to win.

We are now accepting applications for ABWK for the 2010 season. We are also looking for volunteers to help paint. Please stop by our office or call 605-692-5601 for more information!
If you have already volunteered and are concerned that weather may have paused work, please call the office.
We are now asking for volunteers. Opportunities include construction and non-construction. Please stop by our office or call 605-692-5601 for more information!
Thrivent Members and Lutherans Needed! Volunteers are needed to help construct the new home of Jeremy and Michele Klingbile, home #41, a Thrivent sponsored build. Please call 692-5601 or stop by the office for more information. If the regularly scheduled hours do not satisfy your group's needs, please call 692-5601 to schedule evening hours.
Some of you have received multiple copies of our newsletter and other mailings from the Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity office. Thank you for bringing this problem to our attention. One of the projects that office volunteers are currently working on is a new Excel database to eliminate these multiples. Excel provides the capability to sort records alphabetically so it will be easier to identify duplicates. Since the database is a work in progress please continue to notify the office (692-5601) if you receive multiple copies of any correspondence from us.
Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity Mission Statement
God's people building homes for families in need.
Since 1995 our local affiliate has built simple, decent affordable housing in partnership with 121 very low-income families. Habitat is not a giveaway program. Homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their Habitat house and they pay a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.
We are located in a house at the north end of the parking lot of First Lutheran Church. The address is 321 9th Street!
Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Established in 1995 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to build decent, affordable homes for families in need.
Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity (BAHFH) is a nonprofit, Christian
housing ministry that works to eliminate substandard housing in the
Brookings County area.
BAHFH welcomes partners from any faith who are willing to pick up a hammer
to help improve the lives of families needing decent shelter.
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) , based in Americus, Georgia, is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. By the end of 2005, Habitat will have built its 200,000th house, and more than one million people will be living in Habitat homes they helped build and are buying through no-profit, zero-interest mortgages. Habitat is a worldwide, grass-roots movement with more than 2,100 affiliates in 100 countries, including all 50 states of the United States.
