If you have already volunteered and are concerned that weather may have paused work, please call the office.
We are now asking for volunteers. Opportunities include construction and non-construction. Please stop by our office or call 605-692-5601 for more information!
Some of you have received multiple copies of our newsletter and other mailings from the Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity office. Thank you for bringing this problem to our attention. One of the projects that office volunteers are currently working on is a new Excel database to eliminate these multiples. Excel provides the capability to sort records alphabetically so it will be easier to identify duplicates. Since the database is a work in progress please continue to notify the office (692-5601) if you receive multiple copies of any correspondence from us.
Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity Mission Statement
God's people building homes for families in need.
Since 1995 our local affiliate has built simple, decent affordable housing in partnership with 121 very low-income families. Habitat is not a giveaway program. Homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their Habitat house and they pay a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.
We are located in a house at the north end of the parking lot of First Lutheran Church. The address is 321 9th Street!
Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Established in 1995 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to build decent, affordable homes for families in need.
Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity (BAHFH) is a nonprofit, Christian
housing ministry that works to eliminate substandard housing in the
Brookings County area.
BAHFH welcomes partners from any faith who are willing to pick up a hammer
to help improve the lives of families needing decent shelter.
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) , based in Americus, Georgia, is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. By the end of 2005, Habitat will have built its 200,000th house, and more than one million people will be living in Habitat homes they helped build and are buying through no-profit, zero-interest mortgages. Habitat is a worldwide, grass-roots movement with more than 2,100 affiliates in 100 countries, including all 50 states of the United States.
